Chibaya is a popular Daigakuimo (deep-fried syrup-coated sweet potatoes) shop. Chibaya has been using select ingredients to cook up homemade and rib-warming Daigakuimo at the back of Sensoji temple since 1950, and there is always a line of customers waiting in front of the trademark red Noren shop curtain for this delicious treat. Tokutaro is an old-established Japanese sweet shop that opened back in the Meiji era (1903). Tokutaro is famous for its Kintsuba, sweet bean paste covered with a thin layer of flour and then baked, and the seasonal specialty, Mame-Daifuku, rice cakes sprinkled with beans and stuffed with bean paste, which are only available from October to May.
